Two days ago must be marked as a big day for Linux lovers since Adobe released the beta version of Flash Player after taking over from Macromedia. It's a long time wait but it's worth. Since it is still in beta, there is no official package for Ubuntu yet. I have to install it manual. Not too bad, just follow me.

Cache seems to be a must component for company with large amount of clients connected to the gateway and all of them are always online. Today, I have to install Squid as a transparent cache proxy on Ubuntu Dapper using Iptables.

Since this host is also the internet gateway, I assume that your host are currently the same thing and I will just describe the additional steps to setup a transparent proxy.

A few days ago, I had to connect to wireless network with WEP. It's my first time for WEP on Ubuntu. At the first glance, NetworkManager seemed to work because it known about the security and key. However, it didn't simply like that. In this situation, I have a key in ASCII format and I entered that key into NetworkManager with no luck. So I have to set it manually.

It has been for so long since the last official release of BTQueue, 0.1.3, and also the ongoing development in a seperate branch. As I mentioned earlier, BTQueue is moving to a new engine, BitTorrent 4.20.9. I would like to report the latest status of this branch.

Usually, the only method to configuring virtual networks in VMware is to run vmware-config.pl. As a result, you will have to answer lots of questions once again even though most of them are the default value and just need to press Enter. Today I would like to configuring my virtual networks for removing host-only network and nat in production machine. Hopefully it will help optimize the overall utilization a bit. Anyway, I don't want to answer those questions anymore. And I found the secret in /usr/lib/vmware/net-services.sh.
