Upgrading Ubuntu 5.10 to 6.06 Beta in VMware
Today, I decided to upgrade my Ubuntu 5.10 instance in VMware to Ubuntu 6.06 Beta Dapper Drake. It is very easy to upgrade from Breezy to Dapper by doing as follows.
- Update all softwares to the most recent version
- Run the following command
gksudo "update-manager -d"
- Wait
By the way, I got some troubles regarding video driver and mouse driver. To fix these problem, I followed the instruction for FC5 posted at VMTN. In some cases, the mouse driver may be not installed properly. You may copy the driver manually using below command.
cd vmware-tools-distrib
cp lib/configurator/XOrg/6.8.x/vmmouse_drv.o /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/
The wait is over. Just do it.
