Browser compatibility in settrade.com

I love Firefox. By the way, almost websites in Thailand are authored to best fit in Internet Explorer. The most common problem is Thai word wrap. Firefox expects to insert newline for each whitespace. As a result, Firefox usually renders incorrect layout for those web pages. Unfortunately, I found critical problem for this issue today. You can try it easily. Just go to http://www.settrade.com/. And then try to login using any user and password. Firefox will stop process in a blank page. In fact, it is not really blank one. There is a form tag and a script tag which simply submits that form. That’s all. There is no html tag and body tag. What does it mean? Firefox is too strict in rendering non-wellform HTML.

Unfortunately, I have some problems with IE since Java applet is not rendered correctly. What could I do if I don’t have IE and Firefox? I tried Opera and it works just fine. So, I have to install IE, Firefox, and Opera in my laptop.

I have ever found this problem, settrade.com have problem with Firefox. About Java applet is not rendered with IE issue, I used to swap to other window, then return to settrade.com, It should work fine. (It work fine for me)

I was doing a search on the probability of using settrade streaming on linux when I found this page. I have to say I've had problems with settrade IT people from the get go. First, there's a serious problem with their portfolio calculation which makes the "cost" values just plain wrong. (write me if anyone wants the details on that one) I was shuffled back and forth for 2 weeks between the broker and settrade .. with the result that nothing got fixed and I gave up. Now this no-support for firefox thing. It's the easiest thing in the world to fix this and I should know, I'm a programmer. They keep saying that they're trying to expand their customer base .. yet they keep refusing to improve their software (and customer support sucks to boost) .. There can only be 2 reasons for this : 1) They're just plain incompetent ... and/or 2) They're so confident in their monopoly in this business that they just don't care == pure arrogance. As I said at the beginning .. I'm just venting. I'll probably end up finding a work around and put up with their tyranny. Me
