Intel Mac - new war of search engines
Mac OS X is now available in Intel’s x86 processor so there might be lots of x86 fans interesting to give it a try. Everybody knows how it is beautiful. Anyway, there were not so many softwares and applications for end-users so many of them didn’t use Mac OS X in real life including me. Well, Intel Mac is going to change the world. More applications are going to release a new version for Intel Mac so users are going to increase dramatically.
So, everyone want to get a piece of cake in this new market share. Search engine is one of them for sure. Google has continuously released many small piece of gadget to run on Mac. The latest one is the new which is able to run on both PowerPC and Intel. Mac already has most of desktop search functions in itself including sidebar architecture so Google seems to try not to push Google Desktop on Mac.
Instead, they are trying to develop gadgets to run on top of existing infrastructure so Mac users can access to Google easier than ever just like through Google Desktop and its sidebar. Yahoo has , formerly Konfabulator, which used to be in Mac. They are very similar to Mac especially user interface. Microsoft has Windows Presentaion Foundation Everywhere (WPF/E) which can run on any operating systems.
