Personal Financial Tracking 1: Grisbi
I’m looking for a simple, easy, and good financial tracking software to running on my laptop. It seems there are 3 famous open-source options in the wild; GnuCash, Grisbi, and KMyMoney. Ok, I will start by Grisbi since it is also available to run on Win32 platform.
The latest version is 0.5.8. Unfortunately, the latest version for Win32 is 0.5.7. I found a bug during the test. Actually, it was not a test. I tried to use it seriously. Grisbi supports multi-currency. Anyway, the default currency is always Euro. I don’t know how to change it. For getting start at the first time, I have to create below.
- Accounts
- Third party
- Budgetary
Categories are predefined but I could add/change/remove. It looks good as long as you don’t expect modern look and feel. By the way, I don’t see a way to plot charts.
The next part is to try GnuCash on Ubuntu 6.06 beta.
