FeedTree 0.7.0: collaborative RSS and Atom delivery

FeedTree 0.7.0 has been released to the wild. Shortly, it is a peer-to-peer network for distributing feed, RSS and Atom, to all subscribers instantly. In contrast, new feeds will be pushed to a set of subscribers and they will then push to other subscribers in tree fashion. Instead of developing full-featured feed reader for FeedTree, just a proxy, ftproxy, has been developed.

Technically, FeedTree relies on a peer-to-peer overlay network namely Pastry and Scribe protocol running on top of that. I don’t know much about Pastry. All I know is just it is implemented in Java. I don’t hate Java and I don’t like Java too. It is too big for me to run a Java application on my laptop just to read feed faster than ever.

If you are using Drupal and you have an ’ account, you might be interested to try Google Analytics for Drupal. By using this module, you will be able to add necessary code to all pages automatically without modification to your theme.

This is a good start. Anyway, it is possible to track your website programmatically using Google Analytics. Google Analytics module should provide high-level APIs to support Drupal user. Hope budda, the author, will continue this impressive project.

  • Live spellchecking - This is my most favorite one
  • Ability to insert Technorati
  • Ability to change date, time, and etc
  • FTP uploading

AOL, IOL and MyWebSearch in Search Keywords Module

I have just noticed a few entries in referrers log at howforge.com. They seems to be a kind of search engine. There are only 3 identical entries from AOL, IOL, and MyWebSearch. Let me explain more detail about them.

  1. AOL has a very unique URL pattern which I don’t think other search engine will never have something like this. Actually, it contains the word "aolcom".
  2. IOL, instead, uses CGI standard and it doesn’t utilize feature of aliasing like Google do. In contrast, IOL add "/cgi-bin" to the URL.

View permission in ip2cc module

ip2cc module could help anyone to know where the poster was in term of country, IP address and network name. Anyway, this information may not be publicly accessible by anyone, instead it should be accessible by authorized persons. Since I forgot this feature at the time I wrote it, I have just noticed this missing feature when I want to implement a site for publicly offering image hosting service free of charge. As you might know, most image hosting services are heavily used for storing images to show in webboards. Some images are inacceptable due to copyright law or TOS violation by any reasons. In worst case, police might ask for the address of the poster. They just want to know his/her IP address. However, normally this information should be hidden to keep each image posted by anonymous user as long as nobody reports TOS violation.

img1 releases new beta version with enhanced Sidebar! In this version, panels support drag-and-drop to place outside the Sidebar. They can also set to hide, collapse or stay on top via context menu.

According to the latest feature announced in  which allows application to establish secure peer-to-peer tunneling channel between 2 peers over UDP connection using Libjigle 0.2.0, this feature has been integrated into Google Sidebar. As a result, you can send entries inside panel to your friends via . Anyway, this capability currently is available for News and Web Clips. For more complex example, you might try .
